About Roxbury Action Program
RAP’s Mission
Our mission is to strengthen Roxbury’s economic base, preserve its cultural identity, and foster self-determination among residents.
The Roxbury Action Program is an enthusiastic group of leaders and volunteers dedicated to bringing prosperity, financial literacy, education, resources, and opportunities to the Roxbury Community. RAP was founded in the late 1960s to respond to systemic disinvestment, urban renewal, and displacement in Boston’s Black communities.
The Vision
Our vision is a resilient community where generations of families can thrive: economically, socially, and culturally, while maintaining the connection to Roxbury’s heritage.
Building Community
Rooted in the Highland Park neighborhood of Roxbury, RAP integrates economic development, education, housing, and family empowerment. We believe that true community strength lies in creating pathways to sustainable careers, access to affordable housing, financial literacy, and active civic participation.
